From Darkness to Divahood

1/1/11

Well, my 2011 has started out with a bang. And I don’t mean all of that gunfire that woke me up at 1 am. It’s this: I apparently have won the Grande Conservative Diva award at Gay Patriot!

You like me, you really like me!!

(Sorry, I couldn’t help channeling Sally Field.)

Of course, this isn’t my first major award this year. I have already received several progressive ones: Berkeley Public Enemy Number 1, Biggest Traitor of the Year, as well as another one with a name that I cannot repeat in a family-friendly blog.

My cup runneth over with blessings as I head into a brand new year. Thanks to all my readers who took the time to vote! And I’m quite honored even having been nominated among such gifted, wonderful female writers.

All I can say is: what a long, strange trip it’s all been. If anyone had told me way back in the Dark Ages of 2008 that I’d be nominated, much less win, a conservative poll, I would have advised him to seek psychiatric treatment. And yet my life has veered off in directions more exciting than in my wildest dreams.

Thanks to you all for playing such a pivotal role in my political and spiritual journey. I wish you many blessings in 2011. And God bless America! (I don’t think I’ve ever said that before! But it’s never too late!)

much love,

Robin

    Robin,

Congrats on your award. Not only is your writing excellent, but you demonstrate singular courage in the journey you’ve taken. I “saw the light” when I was only 20, so my journey wasn’t nearly as difficult. I’m very glad you’re on “our side” now!

Congratulations! The best diva won, thankfully!! As with everyone, I enjoy your writing and pray you will continue. As for Mr. France – we have more problems than homosexuality. Our government will be our demise, sad to say. While I am Christian and conservative – and a former resident of San Francisco – I do not feel “gays” will be our demise nor do I feel they are an abomination. God will be the one who passes judgment.

You earned it, Robin, by demonstrating insight, truthfulness, cool-headed clarity, empathy, charity, and brevity, in my humble opinion.

I hope this doesn’t mean you’re going to be getting an agent, moving to L.A., pitching an afternoon TV show, signing a deal with Rupert Murdoch, and writing a tell-all book! ;-D

Human conditions that rise quickly, just as all the other things of nature that are born and grow rapidly, cannot have roots and ramifications. They will be blown away in the first storm.

Congratulations, Robin! Happy New Year!!! (I especially enjoy your writing, as I have walked a similar road, from left leaning Democrat to Conservative and from secular Jew to believing Christian Jew)

  7. APG says:

Well done, Robin – you fully deserve this recognition. Congratulations and best wishes for a continued, inspired new year.

    Congratulations on your well-deserved win!

You beat out Michelle Malkin, Cassy Fiano, Dr. Melissa Clouthier, Mary Katharine Ham, and other more well-established competion.

    Congratulations!

Congratulations Robin and Happy New Year!

Your award, I find, is an off-hand compliment, but a complement nonetheless.

I find the terms “Gay Patriot” oxymoronic. It is not so much that I find it impossible that a homosexual person can be patriotic (I do not) but more that such an individual would emphasize patriotism at the expense or supression of one’s sexual proclivities. History has demonstrated that rampant and accepted homosexuality has contibuted to the demise of great civilizations.

While I am at it, I protest the associateion of the word “gay” to homosexuals. Is there anything “gay” about sodomy?
